This romantic waterfront cottage provides a private deck and hot tub overlooking The Salish Sea for a breathtaking vista and rejuvenating breaths of fresh air. Inside, the cozy cabin is delightfully accented with dark wood and exposed brick, cobalt blue dishware, and decorated with thoughtful touches like the stained-glass window that immortalizes our pair of resident eagles. The room features a Queen-sized bed, beautiful glowing flame fireplace, flat-screen TV, dining area and efficiency kitchen, and loungers. Don’t forget to look up in the walk-in marble shower to admire the stained-glass skylight. A life-size bronze sculpture of an eagle hangs on the wall above your new fireplace, and a collector’s romance library of recent and older books is featured in the bookcase. 


Wake up each morning to a cup of Sanctuary Blend Dark Roast coffee by the pot, or your favorite Keurig pod. Enjoy your scenic deck. End your day of Orcas Island exploration by unwinding in our “Sleepy Otter Sauna” 100 feet away.

Be sure to open the brass-rimmed porthole windows to let in the cool island breezes. Stay cozy in the captain’s quarters with a Queen-sized berth, or enjoy the second master bedroom with private door to an outside back-patio. Sink back into the soft leather seating next to the fire-view wood-burning soapstone stove nestled in the copper corner. Explore our grounds and relax in the shared sauna after a day of adventures. The full galley-style kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, oven, and fridge is equipped with a complement of cookware and sailing place settings. Heron Cove is an unabashedly luxurious two-story Orcas Island cottage rental, designed (sculpted is rather more appropriate!) by renowned architect-artist James Hubbell. The round cottage itself is a destination site and has been featured in books and on television. Heron Cove features stained-glass windows, metal sculpture work, ceramic mosaics, and mixed-media artwork (all done by local craftsmen) that function as fireplaces, wall sconces, railings, and lights throughout this jewel-box of a cottage with heated floors.


The master bedroom suite waits upstairs with a Queen-sized bed, fireplace, entertainment system, and a stunning soaring bird stained-glass window. The master suite opens to a large balcony with an elevated view of the North Shore. The bathroom is outfitted with a cove-like shower and Jacuzzi tub, as well as a heated towel rack and bidet. Additional relaxation can be found in our shared “Sleepy Otter” sauna a few short paces away. Enjoy the amazing waterfront views of the Salish Sea, Patos Island and Sucia Island from this romantic cottage.

Sleepy Otter Sauna is nestled  at the heart of this sanctuary. It is free to all guests in hopes that we can soak out all the stresses and use it to rehab and recharge from our daily lives.

 Located within a 1 - 2 minute walk of all cottages. Take advantages of this private escape and enjoy the immense heat that only comes from a wet hot rocks sauna.
